Diet in case of cancer disease is very important to support the treatment and regenerate the organism. Proper diet is a very important aspect and may decidedly help in the treatment. First of all, one has to remember that a diet needs to be adjusted to the needs of the organism and provide all the necessary nutrients, essential for the fight with the disease.
Diet for people with cancer – what to eat and what to avoid?
It is important to eat products which are easy to digest and which are not a burden for the digestive system. Avoid bloating legumes and fried or strewed dishes with cabbage and onion. It is recommended to boil in water on steam as well as bake in aluminum foil. It is not advisable to fry. Soups should be thickened with potatoes or millet groats. Eat the recommended amount of vegetables (500 – 600 g) in the raw, stewed or boiled form, depending on the organism’s condition.
Note! In case of cancers of the digestive tract, e.g. stomach, avoid the excess of fiber. Avoid fruits, as they contain a lot of sugar, therefore they are not recommended in the disease. Choose seasonal fruits from time to time, after boiling and grating. Enrich the menu in vegetable oils as an additive to vegetables or soups.
Remember about protein
Eat natural yogurt, curd cheese or lean poultry two times a day – it is a portion of protein essential to regenerate the organism, providing the organism with the dose of energy. You may also eat steamed or baked fish.
What should be avoided?
Saturates acids, which are the component of meat – pork, fatty cheeses, processed snacks and sweets. This kind of fat influences hormonal balance, mobilizing the organism to produce estrogens and facilitating the creation of inflammations, which increases the risk of cancer.
Nitrates and nitrites contained in all pickled hams may be transformed into cancerous nitrosamines, which increase the risk of cancers of prostate, ovaries and breasts.
Alcohol, as it weakens the organism and strengthens the effect of other cancerous substances.
Trans isomers – cancer-causing products of vegetable fat transformation. They are contained in bouillon cubes, instant soups, margarines and confectionary products.
It is important to eat regularly, fresh products, without reheating and in nice atmosphere.
