If you want to go on a diet, for most of us the main problem are sweets. We love them in every possible form and most of us cannot imagine life without them. They tempt us on store shelves, in cafes; they can make our taste buds go crazy when we see them. Various chocolates, jellies, cakes, wafers or chocolate bars. No matter what, all sweets are unusual additions for us, which we are happy to reach between meals. With their wonderful, sweet taste, however, their high calorific value goes together and unfortunately, but completely unhealthy for us ingredients that carry many side effects. So what to do? How to reduce sweets intake? How to replace them?
It’s true that sugar is not good at all. It has no properties that could contribute to calling it the right one. It may appear under other names and in a different form, but it still remains sugar, which should be avoided like fire. Sugar may also appear under sucrose, fructose, glucose, xylitol, brown sugar, as well as cane, corn, coconut, caramel, molasses, honey, or maple syrup or glucose – fructose syrup. Sugars are simple carbohydrates that improve our mood, affect our well-being, calm us down, and just give us pleasure. However, one must remember that their action is short-term. When we have little energy, we reach for sweets, we get a boost of energy, but after a while it disappears and we have also provided our body with empty calories, we will soon have to eat even more, which certainly does not have a positive effect on our appearance and well-being. How to stop eating sweets? Is it possible? Of course! In most cases, detox is necessary, and it’s known that the beginnings are always the most difficult then. If we mobilize, the hardest thing is to survive the first two weeks, after which most people do not have to eat sweets altogether.
The effects of eating sweets
First of all, it’s important to realize that just eating some sweets from time to time by a healthy person will not cause a number of negative consequences at once. So you can afford a cake on Sunday, or your favorite candybar during the weekend binge. However, if we eat sweets every day, there are a lot of them and we can not give them up, this kind of action brings many side effects. Excessive body weight is the biggest one. Sweets are caloric, so they cause you to gain extra weight very quickly, which you can see in your figure. And if you’re overweight, it’s degeneration of the joints of the limbs and the spine, the load of the osteoarticular system. Simple sugars help in the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, increase the risk of type 2 diabetes, diseases of the cardiovascular system or cancer, especially the large intestine, rectum, prostate, uterus and nipple.
They carry many side effects related to the appearance and functioning of the body. How do sweets affect the complexion? How sweets affect acne? It becomes oily, blemishes appear, people have acne problems. It’s difficult to control its luminosity and good condition. How sweets affect the brain? Initially, they are a good injection of energy and it seems that they work better than coffee. In fact, it’s just that they just cause an increase in energy for a moment, and immediately there is a rapid drop in energy, which causes the body to become tired, weak and sleepy. Sweets also increase the level of cholesterol in the blood, affect the appearance of dental caries on the teeth. Consuming them has negative effects. So asking yourself how sweets affect the body – we answer: very unfavorably!
Sweets – how not to eat them?
Wanting to answer the question of how not to eat sweets, there is no one good recipe for it, because each of us loves these confectioners completely differently and everyone also has a different reason not to stop eating them. However, it’s worth trying, because only in such a way we are able to achieve what we care about, and so give up sweets. So what to do? How to get used to it when it comes to sweets?
- The most important thing is to bet on wholemeal foods that will provide us with everything that is best, while having the right amount of calories that will not let us eat between meals.
- It’s important that we avoid temptation. So we do not buy sweets in shops, we do not leave the house hungry, because it’s easy to enter the nearest confectioner’s shop or to the department store that has sweets.
- It’s important to be able to refuse or if we cannot achieve it, be able to choose a small amount and tell ourselves stop.
- It’s also worth remembering that when you want to eat something sweet, you should start thinking about something completely different. Let’s start cleaning, go for a walk, and meet a friend or sibling.
- The priority is to set a goal. Let us define what we strive for, and what is important to us. We have the goal of dropping 5 kilos, we want to carve the stomach, get rid of excess fat on the thighs. So we have a goal and we strive for it. If we are drawn to sweets, let us ask ourselves: what can we do, why do we need it?
Asking yourself – which sweets are the healthiest or which sweets are the least calorific, it’s difficult to correctly answer these questions, because none are healthy and no calories are low, so we should avoid them like fire. Fortunately, this does not mean that we have to give up the sweet taste. There are alternatives, thanks to which we have the opportunity to enrich a variety of products with the addition of such substitutes, which are definitely better than those standard simple sugars.
How to replace sweets?
For sure the best substitutes are fruits, which, despite the fact that they contain fructose, are definitely better in the right amounts than ordinary sweets. You can make a really perfect dessert, for example, for a cocktail, porridge with fruit, fruit crêpes, vegetable and fruit salad, or other delicacies, in which fruits will play a priority role. You can bet on honey, which is certainly much healthier. Many also use xylitol as a substitute for sugar.
Without sweets, you can really live and that’s why we do not give up something that is healthy for us. It’s enough to detox from them to find out in a very short time that their lack in the diet will result in a much better frame of mind, more energy, greater mobilization, much more willingness to do everything, and the look you just care about. The worst to persevere at the beginning, and later every week is only better.
