As a woman, you ask yourself how much should I weigh with 158, 164, 165 or 170 cm? We know how to calculate the correct weight. Or are you wondering how much a man should weigh? Try our “calculator” and see what your ideal weight is.
The calculator calculates the ideal weight according to the Potton formula:
- formula for ideal weight for women
Weight [kg] = height [cm] – 100 – (height [cm] – 100) / 10
- formula for ideal weight for men
Weight [kg] = height [cm] – 100 – (height [cm] – 100) / 20
IMPORTANT: The formula can be used in adults with height of 150cm or higher.
The Potton formula is one of the designs for determining the correct body weight. Other best-known formulas for ideal body weight include: BMI, Broca, Broca-Brugs, Bernhard, Lorentz, and the American Life Insurance Corporation.
All these formulas, however, should be treated as an approximate, because they do not take into account the composition of the body, i.e. the ratio of muscle mass to fat mass. Often, physically active people with high muscle mass are classified as overweight according to formulas. The formulas are ideal for those with average body size. An important factor is the figure, body appearance, well-being, and above all the body fat content, which is the main indicator of normal body weight and can be measured with a simple bioimpedance method.
