Among diets, there are many traditional ways to lose weight, such as significant caloric deficits, but there are also those that are based on several fundamental principles in relation to permitted and recommended food products. One of the most interesting and effective diets is the so-called moon diet, otherwise known as the chronometric diet.
What is so interesting about the lunar diet? Well, it’s based on the moon phase. It sounds quite surprising and unbelievable, but it’s confirmed that the human body is influenced by various natural factors, including alternating moon phases. Such a lifestyle is closest to the natural one and is consistent with the rhythm of the body. Proponents of the lunar diet argue that the 28-day moon cycle is a factor regulating the body’s rhythm. Introducing such a diet into everyday life requires differentiation of activity depending on the time of day and month.
Moon Diet – rules
The lunar diet allows the use of almost all nutritional products, although it’s required to adjust the meals to the time of the day. This principle did not appear without reason, because the human body tolerates the products in the morning much better and others in the afternoon or in the evening. The defined calorific supply during the day is also important. Initially, or the first two weeks, the calorie limit’s 1000, while later you can consume up to 1,200 calories. In addition, we eat three main meals throughout the day, while a possible snack in the form of a second breakfast is allowed for people whose physical activity is at a relatively high level.
The main rule of the moon diet is to provide the body with 70% of the total daily dose of calories up to 2pm, hence it’s the breakfast that should be the largest meal. Therefore, it’s impossible to give up on it, so people who usually skip this meal must change their habits to make the diet work. Consumption of more than 30% of the daily calorie intake after 2 o’clock may result in excessive storage of fat tissue and thus weight gain.
There is a scheme that allows you to arrange meals during the day so that they are consistent with the moon’s cycle. From 7:00 to 10:00 you can eat bread, fatty meats and cold meats, while by noon, fruits, including dried ones, nuts, and seeds are allowed. From morning until 16:00, we can consume any grain products without any problems. Lean meat, dairy products, eggs and fish are allowed from 9:00 to 22:00. In case of products such as beets, Brussels sprouts, broccoli or dry legumes we have to stick to times between 12:30 and 15:00. The remaining vegetables should be in the diet from 12:30 to 22:00.
The diet is also divided into stages depending on the day of the month. The first stage – four days before the full moon – is to prepare the body for treatment and in its time you should only eat fruit before noon and in the afternoon you can eat other products. In the second stage, lasting from full moon for two weeks, sweets, fatty cheeses and meats are eliminated, and the dose of calories should not exceed 1000. Stage III lasts from new moon to full moon, or two weeks. Here, we can consume 1200 kcal during the day. The lunar diet brings relatively good results if we do not care for a small and healthy weight loss. You can lose 2-3 kg during the month.
