How to eat healthy on vacation

We have a wonderful time before summer, holidays, holidays, trips … We advise you to do it so that it is a well-used time, a time when you will do something for yourself, for your fitness and health.

The golden rule

Reach for food when you really feel hungry. In a situation when someone offers you something to eat or eat with you, do not force yourself to eat, you decide. Learn to distinguish the true feeling of hunger, accompanied by rumble in the stomach and a feeling of emptiness, from „social” hunger, in which you eat because food is available or someone encourages you. If you really feel hungry, do not refuse yourself food. Eat with caution, enjoy every bite. Eat slowly, stop for a moment and think about whether you still feel hunger. Finish the meal when you feel comfortable, strongly refusing when someone offers an addition or a dessert.

A large selection – a wise choice

On holidays, we often reach for ready meals. Restaurateurs encourage us to eat beautifully served exotic dishes. Remember to choose what seems attractive but above all nutritious. Enjoy every bite, enjoy the colors and aromas, and at the same time nourish your body. A well-nourished organism is a beautiful complexion, shiny hair, strong nails, a beautiful smile and lots of good energy!

Portion on a plate

It is worth remembering simple rules regarding eating meals. Only apply dinner for 1 plate, which is enough to fill you up and not to go. In the hotel menu, dishes are often repeated, so you can try everything. Ideally, half of the plate is made up of raw or boiled vegetables, ¼ portions of the plate should be lean meat or fish (boiled, baked, stewed or grilled – avoid fried) and the remaining place should be potatoes, brown rice, porridge or pasta.

Desserts

In hotels, dinner is also proposed desserts – give up oily, crumbly cakes, muffins with whipped cream, cakes layered with creamy masses, cakes or sweet cookies – they are very caloric, contain large amounts of sugar as well as unhealthy saturated fat. Instead, eat a fruit salad, jelly or local fruit. If ice cream is available, avoid these very colorful, flavored ones, with toppings of chocolate, caramel or toffee, with candied fruit, creams and whipped cream. Instead, choose low-calorie sorbets (ie frozen fruit juices) or ice cream and remember that one or two knobs are enough to satisfy your appetite for something sweet!

Alcohol

The hotel’s menu also includes alcoholic beverages, mostly available to guests who relax in the all inclusive standard for free. It is reasonable to imitate the inhabitants of the Mediterranean countries, drink alcohol with a meal – a glass of red or white wine served to dinner sharpens the appetite, improves digestion and emphasizes the taste of dishes. Larger amounts of alcohol are not recommended because they provide so-called „Empty calories”.

Fruits and vegetables

A portion of fruit and vegetables at each meal will help you avoid a heart attack, strengthen the bones protecting them against osteoporosis, reduce the risk of diabetes and hypertension, and strengthen the immune system. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables also helps prevent premature wrinkles and aging of the skin, so you’ll look younger thanks to it!

Leave from remorse

Carry a must with healthy food to avoid feeling guilty after eating a caloric snack. You probably do not leave the house without first brushing your teeth, without combing or without fresh underwear. From today to the list of necessary things, add a healthy layette for the whole day. Put fruit, vegetables, whole-grain biscuits, salads and whatever else into your purse, backpack, and car clipboard. Remember that if you do not do it, sooner or later you will be tempted by easily available calorie snacks.

A sip of water for health and refreshment

Water is essential every day. Every day we should drink from 1.5 to 2 liters a day. The demand for water increases when we are in the sun at high temperature, especially during active recreation, but also in air-conditioned rooms. Choose one that contains more than 500 mg / l of minerals. Such water will quench your thirst and replenish your mineral deficiencies. During the holidays, exclude the consumption of coffee, strong black tea and excess salt, which retain water in the body and cause the build-up of toxins. They also have an effect on the formation of cellulite which is related to the disorder of water and lymph circulation in the body. Instead, you can drink green, red or white tea that has detoxifying properties and accelerates fat burning.

Remember to leave the excuse home when leaving for a vacation. Are you economical? Excellently! Order a smaller portion and do not repeat that you do not like food being wasted, eating a portion that your child could not handle. If healthy eating is important to you, our tips will definitely help you. Pleasant holiday !
