Much is being said about starvation and its effects on the human body. Some are categorically on it, others think that this is the only way to be able to lose weight in a short time. Today we will try to refute all myths, we will suggest what is good and what is not good, if it’s worth it, and if not – why. People who are against this diet are of the opinion that fasting slows down metabolism, leads to malnutrition, destroys the body and is very harmful to health. Proponents, in turn, are of the opinion that starvation is an excellent choice to combat all emerging civilization diseases, as well as to support the treatment of many disease states. And what is the reality?
Why is starvation unhealthy?
At the beginning it’s worth answering the question – what is fasting? It’s a partial or even complete abandonment of food. There is a certain amount of time and it can be mild, relatively moderate, and strict. Depending on how we choose the method of its reception, it may result in specific activities on our body. What does fasting do for us? On the one hand, it can help burn fat, as well as load the digestive tract, especially if there are any problems on its part, but it can also slow down metabolism and the opposite effect than expected, in addition to a large deficiency of minerals and nutrients. Although many people think that fasting has a beneficial effect on the human body, improving health and fighting against incurable diseases, in fact, all research shows that fasting is very dangerous for the human body, affecting both our physical condition as well as mental. We are still hungry, we start to be frustrated, tired, constantly sleepy. We do not feel joy, in the end we do practically nothing, losing the will to live. Our body has too few vitamins and minerals, we are missing a lot of ingredients, we start to feel worse, organs and systems do not work as they should.
But does this mean that every time we fast will lead to our body shutting down? No! When will hunger turn out to be a good choice? Called Intermittent fasting – it’s a completely different type of restriction or elimination of food, which lasts from a dozen to several dozen hours. it’s used mainly by athletes, as well as by physically active people every day. This type of fasting is a good way to burn fat as well as the proper functioning of the circulatory system. Similarly, there are cleansing diets which, if they are carried out positively, can bring many positive effects, both to our appearance and to our well-being.
Fasting – is it worth it?
We are convinced that it’s not! Starving yourself, although it will bring temporary effects in the form of fewer kilograms of weight, will also result in a high risk of dangerous effects and complications that may be harmful to our health. So what about the fact that in a month we will drop a few kilograms using a very radical diet and bringing the body to a finish, if after a month when we return to old eating habits, these kilograms will come back to us and with a vengeance? it’s better to bet on a balanced, tailor-made diet, than to use a miracle diet, which in the long run will not give us anything.
The basis is therefore:
- Five balanced meals a day,
- A lot of fruit and vegetables in the diet,
- Elimination of processed food,
- Avoiding simple carbohydrates,
- Drinking a minimum of 2 liters of water a day,
- Daily exercise.
If we adapt to the above advice, absolutely no hunger diets will be needed. So let’s put health on hand along with a rational approach than on solutions that will not give us absolutely any benefits.
When fasting will be a good solution? In fact, only in a situation where we want to temporarily get a flatter rather flattering belly, which is especially done by women right before various events. We want to fit in your favorite dress, but swollen belly makes it impossible for us. How long should a starvation be used? Certainly not weeks and months, because how fast is affecting our body is really frightening. Menstrual period, hair loss, dry skin, heart problems, lack of energy. The effects of using such fasts could be exchanged forever. Three days and a small amount of food in the diet is certainly enough to be able to wear the dress for the next event, which we only want to fit. No longer experiments should come into play if our health is the most important to us.
Fasting – how to start?
We decide on these few days. We are able to grit and not eat or eat very little to look much better at the weekend than a few days earlier. it’s worth realizing that there is no miracle diet, which in a few days would allow us from size XL to enter size M. However, there are ways to present ourselves as more attractive in just a few days. How to start a fast? You have to set yourself a few, hard days, because they certainly will not be easy. How to get through it? Instead of sitting at home, let’s look for as much as possible to avoid thinking about it. After work, let’s arrange a walk with a friend, start organizing things in the closet, think of some fun and creative activities to do with your child. The more things to do, the less time to think and every one of us should focus on it. Fasting – when is fat burning? In fact, this question is difficult to answer correctly, because everything depends on how our body reacts. One thing is certain, however, those kilograms flying down are the effect of water, not fat, because in order to burn fat, it takes definitely more time than just three days of non-eating.
Fasting – what to drink?
The basis is of course water. And regardless of whether we are on a miracle diet, on a fast track, or on a healthy, balanced diet – water is a necessary thing. We give up any carbonated beverages, fruit juices and alcohol. We can drink coffee or tea, but we also limit ourselves to a minimum.
Fasting and food, what to eat?
In fact, it all depends on what diet level you are going to go to. Some choose to eat what they usually do, but in smaller quantities, others decide to eliminate sweets, bread, fast foods and other unhealthy products, yet others do not eat anything. A lot depends also on how long such fasting will last and what we want to achieve. One thing is certain – it’s worth to limit calories if we want to look better, so as to obtain a calorie deficit, but it’s definitely not worth eating nothing, because this action is very irresponsible and can lead to many side effects of our behavior.
What does fasting lead to?
It leads to our body shutting down. If we decide on it, our body will be completely shocked and will start going crazy. Usually, fasting does not lead to a better figure, and even if it is, those kilos are coming back with even greater power. If you want to lose a few kilos, it’s worth to focus on a healthy diet, eliminate what is harmful, slightly lower the supply of calories and be active every day. Such a lifestyle will make the kilos go down irretrievably, and we will enjoy a great look and an even better frame of mind every day.
