What to do to persevere in your New Year’s resolutions?
● Change thinking about weight loss
A lot of people think of losing weight as something terrible, something that depresses us, makes us feel weak and bad. We can’t eat what we want and we always feel hungry, and generally our well-being is useless. Stop! It’s time to change our thinking right now. First of all, we set a start day. We still have a moment to prepare for it and we are driving ourselves to the changes that await us. Secondly, diet is not a hunger strike. We do not have to eat and satisfy ourselves with just dry rice wafers. This isn’t a rational weight loss. We eat five meals a day, which are well-balanced and allow us to get a calorie deficit. It’s enough for kilos to start gliding down. Thirdly, we should not radically give up everything that is bad. If we fully cut down on our eating habits, we’ll come back to them very soon. Let’s give up bad things slowly, one by one. It’s better to give up half of the sweets for a long time, than to cut them all out completely only for a moment, right?
● Transform the resolutions into an action plan
Now that we’ve decided something, we should start turning our thoughts and plans into actions. It’s known that weight loss is a long-term goal. We will not lose a few kilos in a week, we will not get a model figure in a month. We must establish an action plan. We define what to do, how to act. We throw things out of the fridge and cabinets that we won’t eat on our diet. We do healthy shopping, plan meals and set up training. The better we determine everything, the easier it will be for us to achieve individual goals. Let’s divide everything into stages, and when we reach one, let’s start again at the next and the next and so all this time …
● Don’t starve yourself
In no case should diet be associated with fasting. It’s known that to lose weight you need to eat less or focus on more healthy products. The basis is the caloric deficit, so eating less than we need. However, if we starve, the body will store every, even the smallest meal in the form of fat tissue, because it will fear that it will not get food again for a while. So you need to eat to lose weight, but you need to know what to eat! Avoid sugars and flour products. Focus on a greater amount of protein, healthy fats, as well as the conversion of simple to complex carbohydrates. You don’t need to feel hungry on your diet.
● Drink water
Water is essential to life. We should always drink it, and especially during weight loss. A glass of water with lemon drunk in the morning, a glass of water before each meal. We should drink a minimum of 2 liters of water a day. We do not drink only when we feel thirsty, but we provide water throughout the day, in small quantities and regularly. Water allows us to remove metabolic waste and toxins from the body, while also properly hydrating the body.
● Don’t snack
Under no circumstances should we snack between meals, because it’s very fatal in the process of losing weight. We focus on five meals a day, set specific eating times, and wait for each subsequent meal. Snacking is not recommended, but if we have to eat something, instead of a packet of chips or chocolate bars, choose healthy vegetables, yogurt or other nutritious snacks.
A few simple steps and certainly New Year’s resolutions on weight loss will prove to be so easy to apply that the beginning of the year will be an introduction to the fight for our beautiful appearance. Let’s learn to eat healthy, let’s put on a balanced diet, let’s love physical activity. If this happens, weight loss will not be necessary, because a healthy lifestyle will allow us to look great and feel great that way.
