Perricone diet

Perricone diet was invented by a dermatologist, who noticed that by eating given products we are able to look and feel younger. The creator promises that by following the specific rules of nutrition, we can significantly improve your health, general well-being, improve your daily functioning, and rejuvenate yourself. He believes that the key to a younger look is what we eat every day.

Perricone diet – rules

This method of nutrition is based primarily on the consumption of high levels of polyphenols. They are antioxidants that protect us, including our skin against aging processes. The assumptions of the Perricone diet are extremely similar to those used during low-carbohydrate nutrition, but with the difference that in this case we do not count calories, only think about some products, and those unhealthy we completely eliminate.

Products prohibited on the Perricone diet

  • processed products, with a lot of trans fats and sugar: cakes with conditioners, fruit yoghurts, mayonnaise sauces, some meats, sweets, sweetened carton juices;
  • White bread;
  • ready-made frozen products;
  • fast food;
  • strongly processed vegetable oils.

Products indicated on the Perricone diet are primarily vegetables (especially the green ones), because they are a rich source of antioxidants, which, as you know, affect the removal of toxic free radicals from the body. In addition, when using this way of nutrition, we should pay attention to eating large amounts of fruit that have anti-inflammatory effects, strengthen the skin (especially its vascular walls). It’s also recommended to introduce a small amount of full-value carbohydrates to the daily menu (e.g. dark bread, pasta or groats), vegetable fats (olive oil, coconut or linseed oil), as well as valuable protein (mainly poultry, lean veal, rabbit, seafood).

Limit (or ideally eliminate) the intake of coffee and salt, which causes water retention in the body.

What are the advantages of the Perricone diet?

By following the Perricone diet rules, we will certainly provide the body with strengthening the skin, including getting rid of skin problems, improving its colour, improving blood circulation, removing discoloration caused by irritation, but also restoring the condition of hair and nails. This diet not only improves our appearance, but above all guarantees fast and safe weight loss, improves digestive processes, reduces the level of bad LDL cholesterol, improves the overall functioning of the whole body, thus improving our well-being.

An example menu

BREAKFAST

Fresh fruit cocktail, kefir with parsley, whole grain bread

LUNCH

Kiwi, green lettuce

DINNER

Fish baked in the oven without fat, mix of green salad with olive oil, a few sweet potatoes

TEA

Cottage cheese, radish

SUPPER

Dark pasta with parsley pesto, pepper, chicken breast in spices

This diet is perfectly composed, therefore, using it, we do not expose the body to deficiencies of important ingredients. Thanks to the distribution of meals, we will not feel hunger and we will rarely reach for harmful and fattening snacks, and over time we will completely get rid of unhealthy habits. Variety of vegetables, fruits and lean white meat will help in increasing the amount of vitamins and essential minerals in the diet. The protein will not only support the formation of muscle tissue, but also will give energy. Dairy is essential for our bacterial flora of the stomach. It protects it from damage and makes us not suffer from indigestion or heartburn. This is good news for athletes and active people who often struggle with these types of problems.
