WEIGHT LOSS AND OUR PSYCH

Most of us start getting anxious whenever they even hear the word “diet”. It seems to us that it’s a time when we are constantly hungry, constantly angry with everything around, and discouraged to do anything with ourselves. And so we force ourselves for a moment, after which the body can’t cope and our strength begins to fail us. The psyche can’t cope, and we again reach for what is forbidden and what is wrong. How does weight loss affect the body?

Everything really depends on our approach to this topic. If we are motivated, we want and we care about a long-lasting effect, we will take up the challenge that we will like very much. At the moment, however, when we do it half-arsed, then nothing will work and sooner or later everything will return to an unhealthy order. So how do you act? What to do?

First of all, it’s important to realize that the diet is not a momentary whim, something we should apply for a moment, lose unnecessary weight and re-enter old habits. The diet has to become a part of our lives, a way of nutrition that we will introduce forever and not for a short period of time.

How does weight loss work on our body?

An experiment was carried out to test how weight loss affects the psyche. A group of people would eat 1570 calories in the form of two meals a day for seven days, walk/run 15 kilometres a week, and attend academic classes. As it turned out? The applications may seem very strange, but it has also happened. 1570 calories are really not enough, and two meals a day is a real horror for a human. After a week of using this diet, the group of subjects did not feel any flavours. Everything tasted almost the same, everyone ate anything, not even paying attention to whether they liked something or not. Most people began to eat very quickly, greedily grab food, almost immediately swallowed. At the same time, with such a small amount of calories there was fatigue, which caused great difficulty in performing physical activity. Such people ate little and it would seem that they would lose weight and achieve the result, but the reality showed that the metabolism slowed down and decreased. And although these people lost weight, after a week, when they began to gradually increase the amount of calories consumed, they noticed that the demand for food is much larger than before the experiment. So they started eating and eating and what turned out to be? After a year, most of them struggled with obesity.

How to motivate yourself to lose weight

We often ask how to motivate ourselves so that weight loss is not a problem for us. The basis is to approach everything with your head. If we go on a healthy and balanced diet, we will eat five right meals a day, all of them will contain the right amount of individual nutrients, there should be no problem. We will set a goal and slowly, gently, step by step, we will strive to achieve it. At the beginning, it’s a good idea to take small goals to achieve them faster and thus gain motivation for further action. If the goal is too far away, the motivation drops and we do not want to fight.

We certainly should not starve ourselves for a diet, like the one in the experiment. If we do not have enough food, we start to think about it obsessively. We can’t do anything, because all of our thoughts are preoccupied with our desire to eat something, anything. Can you live like this? Of course, that’s not the reason why fasting has absolutely no sense. Improper weight loss is one of the main methods of weight gain. We want to lose weight, and we do but we get tired, and then go back to „normality”, weight returns and usually in extra-large quantity.

At what point does weight loss become a disease?

Losing weight is dangerous if we approach it badly. But when does weight loss become a disease? At the moment when most of our lives we are thinking about only losing weight by going on a quick fasting diet, then return to eating whatever we used to in excess and return to our original again. We enter the vicious cycle from which we are unable to escape, because either we lose weight and are very unhappy at the same time, or we return to high weight and we are even worse off with it.

Rational food is a superior and priority. We should remember this as much as possible. If we approach the subject of weight loss wisely and appropriately, then we can easily deal with the excess kilograms we have to shed. If we proceed as described above, unfortunately our efforts will come to naught, additionally pushing us into a sense of sadness and not feeling fulfilled.
