WHY IS MY WEIGHT STANDING STILL?

We started losing weight. A week has passed, the second, the third… Our weight was decreasing, we were very pleased, the motivation was increasing, until suddenly our fears come true, our weight stands still and won’t move. So what’s the matter? Why is this happening? All of this in the article below.

Certainly, we should not break down immediately, because such situations happen. At the beginning, excess water goes down, and when it goes down, the tedious fat burning stage begins. If this week we did not a difference on the scale, calm down – it doesn’t mean that we aren’t losing weight. The cause may be hormones, more water consumed, or, for example, an increased amount of food. If we want to lose weight, we should eat less than we need. So let’s track how many calories we eat during the day and whether there are actually fewer of them on the plate than our energy needs indicate.

If this aspect is already proven, remember about physical activity. We should focus on cardio training to increase heart rate and accelerate calorie burning. It can be cycling, running, climbing stairs or, for example, swimming. It’s worth however, to do strength training, because only that gives us the opportunity to gain more muscles, and the more muscles we have, the faster we will burn the fat.

Water is another issue. Both during and after weight loss, water is the basis. We should drink about 2.5 litres of water a day, and if we exercise, even more than 3 litres. In turn, we avoid carton juices, carbonated drinks and other sweet specifics that will not satisfy our hunger, and provide our body with unnecessary calories that will cause weight gain. It’s also worth eliminating or minimizing alcohol, because it’s essentially caloric, and what’s more, it retains water in the body and doesn’t have a positive effect on human health.

And what about eating processed foods or junk food? Many of us can’t imagine life without them, and they are a set of huge amounts of calories. Pizza, kebabs, ready meals, of which there are so many in stores, and which have a huge amount of fat in their composition, as well as other additives that certainly can’t be called healthy. We eat too much, too greasy, unhealthy food. A very big mistake is that having eaten meal, after it’s finished, we don’t feel full. We reach for something else to fill our stomach. Such action means that then we can’t even breathe well, we are exhausted and we have no strength for anything. And the calories are rising and rising like crazy.

And the opposite of overeating is starvation, which can also prevent weight from going down. There is a reason why you will lose weight if you eat. When we don’t eat, our body begins to defend itself and it deposits fat tissue for worse times, because it’s afraid that it will run out of energy. In this way, we starve and kill our body at the same time, and such action will not give us the desired effect. And if it does, then only for a moment, and then the weight will return doubled.

And if all of these things are taken into account and the longer weight stands still, maybe our health is a problem. With some health problems, despite watching the diet and being active, weight remains the same. These include, for example, hypothyroidism, polycystic ovary syndrome, or sleep apnoea, for example. Often, the use of certain drugs significantly affects the weight loss difficulties, moreover, even having an effect on weight gain. So let’s do basic research to be sure that our health is all right.

And finally, it’s worth remembering not to get crazy. If we only think about the fact that we are on a diet, that we cannot eat this or that, that we must limit ourselves and forget about something other, then very soon this diet will become a real horror for us, not a revolution. The diet should not be a momentary whim, but it should develop proper eating habits in us, so that we want to eat like that every day. Let’s bet on healthy food, but let’s allow ourselves one day a week for example, where we eat what we like and what gives us pleasure. If we don’t think only about diet as a diet, if only to lose weight, then quickly such a diet will become our habit, we will like it, and in the mirror we will see someone who we always wanted to be.
